When outdoors, battling the elements, the last thing you want, is to struggle making a fire.
  
Between my time in the military and years of camping and roughing it outdoors in various conditions, it became abundantly clear that not all ferro rods are manufactured to specifications required for real life survival applications.  Small ferro rods throw few sparks, are prone to breaking and need to be replaced far too quickly.  Meanwhile, cheap ferrocerium rods are hard, and the striker is unable to dig into the rod effectively enough to throw out a shower of sparks.  And then there is the issue with handles;  small round handles are utterly inadequate in the bitter cold conditions of mountainous and forested terrain.  When you are cold and tired, an ergonomic handle is paramount.

•Our ferro rods are 5 inches long and 1/2 inch thick:  This is a bunker stick and will last you years of use.  The handle is made of quality hardwood and can stand up to abuse.  Meanwhile, our ferro rods are held in place by industrial strength two-piece epoxy and a brass pin.
•We only use high quality ferro rods which are softer, meaning that you will shower your tinder in sparks with each strike you make.  
•Our handles are hand carved to fit your hand’s natural ergonomics.  You will have no issues using your fire starter in even the coldest and harshest conditions.
